Sukun, (buah dan daun) dan Manfaatnya untuk Kesehatan

Tanaman sukun terdapat di berbagai wilayah di Indonesia. Kata "sukun" dalam bahasa Jawa berarti "tanpa biji"  dan dikenal dengan berbagai nama seperti, timbul, kulur (bahasa Sunda), atau kluwih (bahasa Jawa), kulu (bahasa Aceh), kalawi (Minang). Suune (Ambon), Amo (Maluku Utara), Kamandi, Urknem atau Beitu (Papua), Karara (Bima, Sumba dan Flores), Susu Aek (Rote), Naunu (Timor), Hatopul (Batak), Baka atau Bakara (Sulawesi Selatan), dan masih banyak lagi sebutan lainnya.

Di daerah Pasifik, kulur dan sukun menjadi sumber karbohidrat penting. Di sana dikenal dengan berbagai nama : Breadfruit (English); Fruit a Pain (French); Fruta Pao, Pao de Massa (Portuguese); Broodvrucht, Broodboom (Holland); dan kuru, ulu, atau uru (Hawai). Tanaman sukun mempunyai beberapa nama ilmiah yang sering digunakan, yaitu Artocarpus communis Forst, Artocarpus Incisa Linn, atau Artocarpus Altilis.  

 History /Asal Usul

Breadfruit is a species of flowering tree in the mulberry family, Moraceae, growing throughout Southeast Asia, South India and most Pacific Ocean islands. It is also grown in the Leeward Islands and Windward Islands of the Caribbean and in Africa.

Asal-usul sukun (dari mulberry family) diperkirakan dari kepulauan Nusantara sampai Papua. Mengikuti migrasi suku-suku Austronesia sekitar 2000 tahun sebelum Masehi, tanaman ini kemudian turut menyebar ke pulau-pulau di Pasifik. Diperkirakan pada masa perdagangan rempah di akhir zaman Majapahit, sukun menyebar ke Jawa dari Maluku. Karena pengaruh kolonisasi bangsa-bangsa Eropa, sukun ini lalu menyebar ke barat antara tahun-tahun 1750-1800 ke Malaysia, India, Srilangka, Mauritius, dan pada 1899 tiba di Afrika. Kini sukun telah menyebar luas di berbagai belahan dunia terutama di lingkar tropis.

Tanaman sukun merupakan tanaman tahunan yang tumbuh baik pada lahan kering (daratan), dengan tinggi pohon dapat mencapai 10 m bahkan lebih. Buah muda berkulit kasar dan buah tua berkulit halus. Daging buah berwarna putih agak krem, teksturnya kompak dan berserat halus. Rasanya agak manis dan memiliki aroma yang spesifik. Berat buah sukun dapat mencapat 1 kg per buah.

Kandungan Gizi Sukun

Herba ini semusim, tegak. berambut. Batang tinggi 30 - 50 cm. bercabang, dengan garis memanjang kasar. Daun letak berseling bentuk bulat lonjong sampai lanset, bagian ujung dan pangkal daun lancip, tepi bergerigi, panjang 2,5 - 8 cm, lebar 1,5 - 3,5 cm.. Buahnya kecil. Akar dari tanaman ini sangat disukai anjing dan kucing.

Di benua Amerika, dlingau kerap dipertukarkan dengan kerabatnya yang asli dari sana, Acorus americanus, dengan sebutan berbagai nama seperti Flagroot, Sweet Cane, Sweet Flag, Sweet Root, Sweet Rush, sedangkan di Indonesia, akrab dengan sebutannya dalam bahasa Jawa, Dlingo, dan dengan berbagai sebutan diperbagai penjuru nusantara berikut : Jeurunger (Aceh), Jerango (Gayo) Jerango (Batak), Jarianggu (Minangkabau), Daringo (Sunda), Dlingo {Jawa Tengah) Jharango (Madura), Jangu, Kaliraga (Flores), Jeringo (Sasak), Kareango (Makasar),  Kalamunga (Minahasa), Areango (Bugis), Ai wahu (Ambon),  Bila (Pulo Buru)

Tumbuhan  yang berasal dari family Araceae ini, masih serumpun dengan tanaman Keladi Tikus, dan mempunyai khasiat yang penting juga untuk  menyembuhkan penyakit wanita, keputihan . Dlingo telah lama dipergunakan oleh suku Indian dan sangat populer di Amerika,  untuk mengobati dilep dan kram perut saat wanita mengalami mensturasi dan penyakit lainnya seperti demam dan sakit gigi . Rasanya yang mint manis, dalam bentuk bubuk dan permen karet dipergunakan sebagai "pengganti" rokok untuk orang-orang yang ingin berhenti dari kebiasaan merokok. Namun sayangnya, karena dicurigai sebagai pemicu tumor pada tikus, USDA pada tahun 1968 melarang penggunaannya. Padahal, dalam ilmu pengobatan di Mesir kuno dan Ayurveda, India, dlingo sudah dipakai selama 2500 tahun, hingga saat ini tidak ditemukan efek  pemicu tumor dan kanker dari mengkonsumsinya.

Morfologi dan Habitat Dlingo
Merupakan tanaman berbentuk herba menahun dengan tinggi sekitar 75 cm, batang pendek berbentuk rimpang, Daun tunggal berbentuk lanset, pertulangan sejajar, panjang sekitar 60 cm, berbunga majemuk, bentuk bongkol, ujung meruncing, panjang 20-25 cm, di ketiak daun, tangkai sari.panjang ± 26. Tanaman ini tersebar di hamper seluruh pelosok negeri

Rimpang dlingo berkhasiat sebagai obat penenang, obat lambung, obat limpa, bahan baku kosmetik (Syamsuhidayat dan Hutapea, 1991), insektisida, demam nifas (Depkes RI, 1978), antijamur, antibakteri, anthelmintik, antidiare, antiulkus, antisekretori, sitoprotektif, antikonvulsan, antihepatotoksik, antioksidan (Anonim, 2010), allelopathic, anticellular dan immunosuppressive (Asha and Deepak, 2009).
Penelitian-penelitian terdahulu menunjukkan rimpang dlingo mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antibakteri, antijamur dan insektisida (Motley, 1994). Berdasarkan penelitian-penelitian terakhir ini diketahui bahwa senyawa yang terkandung dalam minyak atsiri rimpang dlingo yang diduga kuat mempunyai aktivitas antijamur (Asha and Deepak, 2009). Menurut penelitian Afita (2005) ekstrak etanol rimpang dlingo juga berkhasiat sebagai antijamur terhadap Candida albicans

Penerapan Manfaat Dlingo

1. Dalam bentuk  Ramuan
Dlingo dalam bentuk ramuan bisa dilakukan dengan cara mengambil Rimpang dlingo kira kira sebesar telur ayam kampong, dicuci bersih dipotong potong kecil, direbus dalam panci email dengan 2 (dua) gelas air, lalu dididihkan selama 15 menit, dan terakhir diminum setengah gelas pagi dan sore hari

2. Dalam Bentuk Olesan
 Sebagai antijamur Candida albicans, pengolahan rimpang dlingo diperlukan untuk mendapatkan kandungan zat etanolnya yang salah satunya dengan menggunakan metode ekstraksi. Proses ekstraksi adalah penarikan zat pokok yang diinginkan dari bahan mentah obat dengan menggunakan pelarut yang dipilih dimana zat diinginkan larut (Ansel, 1989). 


Saat ini sedang dalam penelitian dan pembuatan gel ekstrak dlingo. Mengapa dalam bentuk gel perlu dibuat? Dibuat dalam bentuk sediaan gel agar lebih cepat meresap ke dalam kulit. Selain itu, gel tidak lengket, tidak mengotori pakaian, mudah dioleskan, mudah dicuci, tidak meninggalkan lapisan berminyak pada kulit, viskositas gel tidak mengalami perubahan yang berarti selama penyimpanan (Lieberman, 1989).
